On 16 April 2024, SDTR Marine forged a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CCS, igniting a partnership dedicated to fostering collaboration in the development of comprehensive solutions on greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction in the maritime industry.
On 16 January 2024, SDTR Marine and DNV entered a Joint Development Project (JDP) to conduct a Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) feasibility study for our 85,000 DWT Kamsarmax bulk carrier.
14th December 2023 marks another important milestone in SDTR’s journey towards a sustainable maritime industry. SDTR is collaborating with Cargill to pioneer a trial voyage, using Biofuel B24 VLSFO for her vessel MV SDTR Dora in Singapore. This is our collective effort to reduce carbon footprint and greenhouse gases within the maritime sector.
In line with SDTR's efforts towards environmental corporate responsibility, SDTR has participated in the OneMillionTrees movement, which is a key pillar under the Singapore Green Plan 2030. The movement aims to transform Singapore into a City in Nature through the planting of a million more trees across Singapore till 2030.
On 13th October 2023, at Makati Diamond Residences Hotel in Manila, SDTR partnered with Synergy in hosting SDTR's Officer Seminar 2023 for her seafarers. The event had a resounding success and was attended by twenty-nine officers from Philippines and China, running SDTR vessels; and distinguished guests from the industry.
In a remarkable stride towards environmental responsibility, SDTR Marine has once again embraced the role of sponsor at the 38th Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) Gala Dinner on 22 September 2023.

On 2 March 2023, SDTR Marine Pte Ltd was awarded the “Business As A Force For Good” award for corporates in Singapore by INSEAD Alumni Association Singapore. This award is given to Singapore-based companies who have: Demonstrated thought-leadership with respect to “Business as a Force for Good” (BAFG), Created a vision, mission statement and strategy clearly demonstrating their BAFG commitment, Developed corporate social responsibility best practices, Achieved remarkable economical results and meaningful societal impact to the BAFG initiatives including but not limited to Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Diversity & Inclusion (D&I), Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and Sustainability. SDTR was judged on: The use of innovative solutions to particular issues, Breadth of impact on a community, Substantial sustainability mission and vision put in practice. This is a testament of SDTR’s efforts in being part of a global shipping fraternity and as part of SDTR’s mission to be a socially responsible shipping company, to decarbonize and to give back to the community. Building today for a future tomorrow.
17 February 2023, marks another significant milestone for SDTR. China Class Society (CCS) awarded SDTR an AIP certificate for the world first Ammonia Dual Fuel Kamsarmax Bulk Carrier, which is in a joint development project with Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI).
Recently, as part of SDTR’s “Sustainable Environment Goals” we have contributed financially to Asia’s First Sustainable Deposit managed by Standard Chartered Bank, Singapore (SCB) and developed in collaboration with Sustainalytics, the leading provider of ESG and corporate governance research. This is part of SDTR’s journey to be a socially responsible shipping company and to support global initiatives for a more sustainable ecological environment. This fund will be used for qualified green; and sustainable themes and activities with outcomes aligned to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in developing countries in Asia, Africa and Middle East. This fund is used to finance projects that have would impact the following areas to help the UN’s Net Zero Coalition 2050 target: 1) Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency 2) Pollution Prevention & Control 3) Water Management 4) Sustainable Infrastructure 5) Climate Change Adaptation 6) Green Financing Instruments 7) Sustainable Agriculture, 8) Forests & Land Conservation 9) Circular Economy 10) Blue Economy SDTR strongly supports such activities to help address these areas of global challenges. A purposeful investment, to address long-term environmental challenges dedicated towards financing sustainable assets. This forms part of our sustainability investments to save “Gaia”, as a globally responsible organization. This is a small price to pay compared to a higher price if we don’t!
