MV SDTR GLORIA Successfully Commenced First Windmill Blade Transport Voyage
SDTR’s vessel SDTR GLORIA has recently successfully completed the loading of windmill blades for her first project cargo voyage. The vessel completed loading operations at Tuticorin Port, India, and departed on 27 February 2026, fully laden with windmill blades bound for Angamos Port, Chile. The voyage will proceed via the Cape of Good Hope and the Strait of Magellan, with the vessel expected to arrive at the discharge port in early April 2026.

A total of 38 windmill blades were loaded for this voyage, stowed on both the hatch covers and deck area in a three-tier loading arrangement. Each blade measures 81.5 meters in length, with a unit weight of 32.21 metric tons. The transportation of such oversized cargo posed significant technical requirements in terms of loading design, cargo securing arrangements, and navigational safety.

To ensure the safety and regulatory compliance of the operation, the project received strong support from several professional institutions. The Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI) updated the vessel’s Deck Cargo Loading Manual and Loading Computer, and prepared the Cargo Securing Plan with detailed engineering calculations. Meanwhile, the China Classification Society (CCS) conducted thorough reviews and approvals of the relevant certificates and technical documentation, providing essential assurance for the smooth execution of the project.

The successful completion of this windmill blade transportation project demonstrates SDTR’s commitment to ensuring safety and regulatory compliance while continuously expanding its capability in handling diversified cargo types and delivering high-quality services to clients. The company also extends its sincere appreciation to all partners for their professional support and close cooperation throughout the project.

Looking ahead, SDTR will continue to uphold its operating principles of safety, professionalism, and efficiency, further strengthening its project cargo transportation capabilities and providing more diversified and reliable shipping services to customers worldwide.
